Learning outside the classroom
I spend alot of time at the Student Center. It is a comfortible place to relax inbetween classes. It is quiet enough to study and has everything that I need while I am on campus. I have found the Learning Center in the TB building to be very helpful. It is nice to have a place to study and have a tutor on demand. I cannot express how much they have helped me this semester with math 1010. I also have a one on one tutor named Mich and after listening to his instructions I scored 100% on my next math exam. I owe him a great deal of thanks. When I am not studying I take full advantage of the weight room in the Lifetime Activities Center and I am in the best shape of my life. Again I would like to thank Mich, with his help and hard work, I passed Math 1010 with an A.
This semester I took Math 1040 (statistics), unfortunately there aren't too many tutors for this class and I was unable to spend much time in the learning center. With hard work and determination, I passed with an A as well. I am so thankful for the opportunity to return to school.
Student Conference on Writing and Social Justice
In my English 2010 class, one of our assignments was to write a position/proposal paper. I wrote "Legalized Self-Destruction: Additional End-of-Life Options are Necessary." The topic that grabbed my attention was physician-assisted suicide. For extra credit we were encouraged to enter our papers into the state-wide social justice writing contest. My paper was selected and I have been asked to present my position/proposal paper at the Student Conference on Writing and Social Justice in April 2012.
